The Sea Dragons wouldn't exist without the active involvement of the parents. We ask that each family serve as a meet volunteer at a minimum of 3 swim meets. VOLUNTEER SIGN UP

The Sea Dragons also allow for training for your volunteer position. It is important to attend the BLUE/GREEN meet on Saturday June 10th to learn about the position you will be working. BLUE/GREEN SiGN UP
Clerk of Course
Get swimmers to the proper lane for each events and hands event slips to recorder. May combine events with the approval of the TSA Rep. Clerk of Course is responsible for double checking that each swimmer is in the proper lane, as indicated by the heat sheets. This is VERY IMPORTANT in order to avoid scoring mix-ups. Clerk of Course will be notified of any last minute changes before the start of the main event.
Stroke and Turn Judge
Judges whether proper stroke, turn and finish are executed by the swimmers during the meet. Required to attend one two hour class presented by the TSA. Each team provides one judge.
Observes the finish order for each Main Event. Obtains the official first-place time to the recorder for each event. The place judge stands at the finish end of the pool. (Heats are not judged for place.) Moves about the pool deck throughout the meet. Each team supplies three place judges for each meet.
Positioned at the end of the pool to obtain times for their own teams swimmers during the meet. This task is executed by hitting a plunger on an electrical timing system at the end of a race. Some notating of times is taken manually on paper in some situations.
Official Recorder (Home Only)
Completes event sheets by recording the order of finish and times according to the place judges. Stands with the place judges at the finish end of the pool. (Heats are not judged for place.) Hands event sheets to the runner.
Takes event sheets from the recorder and disqualification sheets from the stroke and turn judges and carries them to the scorer’s table. The runner must deliver the sheets directly to the scorer’s table and not allow coaches or other interested parties to intercept them in transit. This is a mobile position. Wear comfortable shoes.
Kid Pushers line swimmers up for their events, following the lane and heat assignments on the heat sheet. After the kids are lined up in the proper order, they walk the swimmers to the Clerk of Course. Kid Pushers will also be responsible for helping to write the swimmers names on their shoulders before the meet.
Remain with swimmers in the "Dragon's Lair" between events. This is a great position for someone who is energetic and enthusiastic with the swimmers. You will work closely with the kid pushers to ensure that each swimmer gets lined up for their events. Must be willing to encourage swimmers to show their spirit by reciting cheers, playing games, and maintaining order in the Lair.
Ribbon Distributor (Home Only)
Stands at the finish end of the pool and hands "Heat Winner" ribbons to Heat Winners at the end of each heat. Judges will not be responsible for determining the heat winner, so the ribbon distributor must be watching during these races. (Main Event winners do not receive "heat winner" ribbons.)
Complete main event ribbons and file ribbons for distribution to swimmers at the next practice. You will sit at the scoring table.
Keeps a running total of points earned by each team. You will work with the other team’s scorer. You will receive results from each main event and record these results using a preprinted scoring sheet which is easy to understand. You will sit at the scoring table.
Meet Set-Up (home)
At Home Meets, this position arrives at the pool at least by 4 pm. Sets up backstroke flags, starting blocks, lane ropes, chairs behind the starting blocks, scoring table, ribbon and announcer tables, temporary lighting, dragon lair tent set up.
Meet Clean-Up (home)
Break down after the meet and puts pool deck back in order. Includes collecting trash, taking down tents, putting away lane ropes, starting blocks, backstroke flags, lights and PA system, and putting away chairs and tables back in place per pool mgt specs.
At home meets, purchases, sets up and runs concessions.
Set up/Clean up AWAY meets
At away meets arrive at least 15mins before warm-ups to set up tents for the dragons lair. At end of the meet take down the tents and make sure the area is free of trash and lost items. You must be able to transport 6 tents in your vehicle.
